Postharvest Losses of NOR Tomato Fruit Line MA 131-6-3 Treated by Ethephon and Calcium Carbide

Ethephon and calcium carbide are artificial ripening compounds that often used to faster fruit during postharvest. These two were induced in non-ripening (NOR) tomato line MA 131-6-3 because it produced endogenous ethylene lower respiration. This study aimed determine the effect of ethephon on postharvest losses NOR tomatoes for 14 28 days after treatment. Exogenous application 1,500 ppm 15 g kg-1 was given ambient conditions at temperature 28.08±1.80 °C relative humidity 75.67±2.09%. experiment carried out Sidoarum village, Godean district, Sleman regency, Special Region Yogyakarta province, Indonesia, 125 m above sea level. As a result, can increase rotting. Furthermore, accelerate metabolism which has an impact physiological loss weight, changing color yellowish (b*), increasing vivid (chroma), but cannot turn red.
